Studies show that positive influences in a young person’s life can lead to higher rates of academic, professional, and personal success and productivity. The Seeds Mentoring Program provides opportunities for youth and community members to engage and create meaningful and supportive relationships. Our Mentor Monday Project brings several mentors and several youth together in a central location to spend time and share experiences. All Seeds Mentors undergo a background check to ensure their fitness for the position and the safety of our clients. Through this group mentoring model we create opportunities for organic individual mentor matches. These relationships will allow Seeds Mentors to work together with our staff, the teen’s school, parents, and other community representatives (probation officers, etc.) to ensure that we provide a holistic approach to addressing the teen’s specific needs.
All Seeds counseling providers are Master’s Level and/or Licensed counselors. Teens and their families will be assessed by our counselors to identify their individual needs and ensure that they receive services specific to their situation. Seeds believes that teens and their families can benefit from therapeutic support to help identify and address underlying issues that could be leading to delinquency and dysfunction. Sowing Seeds offers individual counseling, family counseling, and anger management counseling.
TUTORING & GED PREP
The Seeds Tutoring and GED Prep program will help teens who are struggling academically with the necessary support to reach their full educational potential. Tutoring services will be offered after school, and GED Prep will be offered throughout the day. Seeds Tutors will be recruited primarily from local college & university education programs; other volunteer tutors will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Seeds GED Prep Instructors will be certified instructors, and all tutors and instructors will undergo a background check.
